Last weekend I read the story book and shared the happiest story time with my daughter. It was about Mr. Putter's birthday. She was very interested and so involved as if she were Mr. Putter herself.
In the story, Mr. Putter invited his best friend Mrs. Teaberry and her lovely dog to tea and he told her that that day was his birthday. Mrs. Teaberry was delighted and said she would come afterwards. She asked him to wait for her because she had washed dishes. Mr. Putter said he would wait. But after he had finished his newspaper, the phone rang. It was Mrs. Teaberry. In this time, she told him that she had to curl her hair and asked whether he would wait. Mr. Putter said he would wait. This happened several times that it made Mr. Putter seemed a little bit disappointed. It was because time flew very quickly that it was in the evening 7:30 pm. Mr. Putter was a nice person and he eveytime only said he would wait although he didn't want to. My daughter was very unhappy too as if she were him. Just at that moment, the doorbell rang. It was Mrs. Teaberry and her dog. She brought birthday cake with Dozens and dozens candles on it, present and balloons which made Mr. Putter felt very surprised and very happy. My daughter also felt with joyful in her face and smile.
My daughter said if she could have shared the cake with them, that would have been perfect.

Thank you for sharing that, Matina! It is amazing how much kids "step inside" a story - their minds are really at the stage where they are learning so much, and their imaginations are limitless. I loved reading to my kids, and I"m glad you do too!
ReplyDeleteThe very last sentence is past participle usage, quite advanced English, and should be: My daughter said that if she could have shared the cake with them, that would have been perfect.
Good work, Matina.
